Seafood Lovers Guide to Port Douglas

Seafood Lovers Guide to Port Douglas

As Port Douglas locals we can proudly say that seafood straight from the Great Barrier Reef is as fresh and tasty as it comes. Whether you’re a lover of juicy fish, succulent crab or mouth-watering oysters, these incredible restaurants will deliver all the seafood goodness you’re after, and then some.

There’s something awesome about knowing that your meal was locally sourced – you’ll get to experience this feeling first hand while you’re in Port Douglas. Otherwise, you’ll have a variety of tastes from other Australian sources right at your fingertips.

We have you sorted for dining out and at-home seafood options while you’re holidaying in paradise, and we know you won’t be disappointed. The hardest part will be deciding where to go!

On the Inlet

This iconic restaurant is known to serve top quality and locally sourced seafood always delivered with genuine service. Although it’s reopened and relocated in 2018, this spot has upheld it’s name and is a firm favourite amongst the local’s.

Make sure to try the Salmon Tiradito or the Chilli Salt Calamari as an entree, followed by a locally caught Coral Trout or Barramundi. This is the perfect place to kick back and chill out after a day of swimming and being in the sun – there’s nothing more relaxing than feasting on mountain of seafood, right?!

2 Fish

This award-winning restaurant serves some of the best seafood you’ll ever come across and is situated just around the corner from Four Mile beach. Book a table outdoors and enjoy the balmy ocean breeze and watch the world go by.

Our recommendations include the Yellow Fin Tuna and the Bug Tails with coconut laksa. To top things off, have the sweet Sticky Toffee for dessert!

Fresh Prawns – Market or Marina

Pick up some big and juicy freshly caught prawns from the Sunday Markets or off the trawler at the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina.

Please feel free to ask the friendly staff at Pools for dates and further info about the Marina prawn specials.

This will be perfect if you’re planning a poolside picnic at Pools, or maybe you just want to devour a bucket of prawns to yourself! ?

Seashell’s Seafood

Not down to dine out but still want to try Port’s seafood goodness? Pop into Seashell’s on Grant Street and stock up on tasty fish, prawns, oysters and bugs. This way, you can head back to Pools and cook for yourself exactly the way you like it – nothing beats a home cooked meal! If you’re unsure what to get, ask the local staff for some tips.

Zinc Restaurant & Lounge Bar

Zinc is an open-aired elegant restaurant located on Macrossan Street, just a short stroll from Four Mile Beach. There is a warm ambience about this venue that makes it an ideal place for a friends and family catch up or a romantic date night.

There is a diverse range of contemporary dishes to indulge in, and you will be impressed by the selection of seafood on offer. Try the natural oysters, ‘Raw Four Tastes of the Sea’ special, salmon carpaccio and you can’t go past the ultimate seafood lovers dish – a crudo of cobia, snapper & coral trout. The Southern Blue Mussels in white wine and tomato is another mouth-watering choice.

Sassi

This is Italian seafood at its very finest in a beautiful and scenic location. If you’re looking to combine authentic Italian cuisine with the incredible FNQ produce that’s on offer, you will be glad you stopped in at Sassi.

The Salmon Carpaccio is a must try that bursts with flavour drizzled in a soy, lemon and chilli dressing. The squid ink pasta is an outstanding main that you don’t want to miss. You will be well and truely looked after by the friendly and accommodating staff.

And there it is – our ultimate guide for all seafood lovers travelling through FNQ. Time to get eating!
