The Habitat is a long-standing favourite of locals and travellers alike in Port Douglas, and it\u2019s such a brilliant place to bring the kids along too. This zoo is bursting at the seams with weird and wonderful creatures \u2013 ranging from feisty crocodiles to adorable koalas (who love a cuddle!). Take a stroll through the parks and check out the birds, reptiles, mammals, fish and amphibians across the woodlands, wetlands, rainforest and savannah. We recommend feeding the friendly wallabies, but maybe leave the croc and pelican feeding to the professionals!<\/p>\n

Just when you thought horse riding couldn\u2019t get any more enjoyable, Cape Trib Horse Rides takes it to another level! During your PD getaway, you can stroll along the idyllic beaches of Cape Tribulation<\/a> on horseback along a seriously gorgeous riding trail. You\u2019ll set out from the stable and venture through the astonishing Daintree Rainforest, to then explore the beautiful Myall Beach. This remarkable activity supports all types of riders and levels \u2013 whether you want to walk, trot or canter through FNQ. Whale Watching<\/h3>\n

This year, the magnificent humpback whales seem to be loving the waters of Port Douglas! We\u2019re with you on that one, whales \u2013 who could resist these tropical seas? During May to August, you\u2019re likely to come across these phenomenal mammals dancing and frolicking through the ocean in Tropical North Queensland. If you\u2019re travelling through Port during these months, you\u2019ll likely experience some breaching and tail-slapping when exploring the Great Barrier Reef! If you\u2019re really lucky, you may even have the chance to swim with the Minke whales when travelling with Poseidon Cruises through the Agincourt reefs. You would be crazy to miss that opportunity!<\/p>\n

Fishing<\/h3>\n

And of course \u2013 going fishing is another fun and fantastic way to check out the sea life here in Port Douglas! You might want to throw a line in with friends or family along the Daintree River, Mowbray River or the Dickson Inlet, or there is a pretty awesome line up of fishing charters<\/a> also at your disposal. Common catches in TNQ include Barramundi, Mangrove Jack, Trevally or Flathead just to list a few! Not to mention, getting out for some fishing also gives you an excuse to bring a few beers along and catch up with your mates. Doesn\u2019t that sound great?<\/p>\n
