8 Reasons to Visit Port Douglas in the Green Season<\/h2>\n

There\u2019s no hiding that Port Douglas is notorious for its only two seasons; wet and dry – but we are here to debunk a few misconceptions about the \u201cgreen season\u201d. Rain and all, we think that Port is a dream destination year-round. From December through to April, things get a little wet here in our coastal town. The thing is, our reef, rainforests, creeks, and waterfalls have never looked so luscious!<\/p>\n

Without further ado, here are 8 reasons why us locals were taught to never wish away the rain.<\/p>\n

Each year, the wet season transforms our gorgeous seaside town into a blooming tropical wonderland. With a little (or a lot) help from Mother Nature\u2019s downpours,\u00a0the luscious rainforests, magnificent gorges, and flourishing creeks and waterfalls truly come alive. This annual magic and spectacular greenery is something that you can\u2019t miss.<\/p>\n

2. Waterfalls are Flowing!<\/h3>\n

And we mean\u00a0really<\/em>\u00a0flowing! Far North Queensland is home to some of Australia\u2019s most phenomenal waterfalls<\/a>, and this is undoubtedly the best time to experience them. Hit the road or take a hike to immerse yourself in nature and be surrounded by thundering falls<\/a> and rapids gushing at full force. One of our favourites in the Green Season is Barron Falls and the best way to view it? By sky rail! So despite what the TLC ladies sang in the 90s, go chase those waterfalls – you won\u2019t regret it.<\/p>\n

3. Ultimate Creek Conditions<\/h3>\n

All of this rain is usually accompanied by heat, so finding ways to cool down quickly becomes a priority. The creeks<\/a> at this time are absolutely gorgeous – pristine waters, rejuvenating swimming temperatures, and sweet sounds of wildlife all around. Set up for the day and bring snacks, your favourite book, and snorkelling gear for some underwater exploring. Talk about the perfect place to kick back and relax!<\/p>\n

4. Less Crowds<\/h3>\n

Most travellers visit Port Douglas for the sunshine, beautiful beaches, and the extraordinary Great Barrier Reef – but for one reason or another, the rain scares everyone away. Those who don\u2019t mind getting a little wet can experience everything the town has to offer without the hustle and bustle. You\u2019ll have outstanding restaurants<\/a>, exquisite bars<\/a>, and fabulous shopping boutiques<\/a> all to yourself!<\/p>\n
